About this deal

Coming from San Marco, it's on the right-hand side of the Rialto bridge. Looking more closely, you'll be able to make out two fairly obscene reliefs that have in fact, a great deal to do with the history of the Rialto bridge: one shows a man with a disproportionately huge penis in the shape of a nail, the other shows a female figure with her intimate parts placed over a flame-spewing votive bowl. The two figures illustrated one and the same story surrounding the construction of the Rialto bridge. After the wooden bridge had rotted or burned down several times, in 1507 the city administration decided to erect a stone bridge across the Canal. Decades of arguments about financing and design ensued, spurring the residents of San Polo, consisting of prostitutes, market traders, vendors and craftsmen, to make sardonic remarks. The man would call out: "Sto ponte i lo finira quando ch'ecl casso fara l'ongia" (if this bridge will ever be finished my penis will turn into a nail), and the woman jeered an analogy: " Quando che i finisse el ponte, me chiapara fogo la mona" (if the bridge should ever be completed my vagina will catch fire). Both jibes were completely typical of the Venetian people of the time, forever incorporating obscenities into their jeering chants. Indeed, construction on the Rialto bridge started in 1588, and it was completed in 1591. Now the joke was on the local people, and the city administration used the two reliefs to show that the doubters were now due some "nails" or "flames". Most people with penises have 3–5 erections every night, mostly during REM sleep. This is also called “nocturnal penile tumescence,” and it’s still not clear why it happens. From Wikipedia: The hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), also called the hippo, common hippopotamus or river hippopotamus, is a large, mostly herbivorous, semiaquatic mammal and ungulate native to sub-Saharan Africa. It is one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae, the other being the pygmy hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis or Hexaprotodon liberiensis). The name comes from the ancient Greek for "river horse" (ἱπποπόταμος). Give me a score board for darts at the pub and a piece of chalk and I shall draw a fully labelled anatomical drawing of the fallopian tubes.

Moreover, through years of mentoring young queer artists, I’ve observed that the successors of Gran Fury not only have a new relationship to public messaging, they have more of a relationship to it than previous generations. An international survey show of queer artists that I assembled for the Leslie-Lohman Museum in New York last year, ‘OMNISCIENT: Queer Documentation in an Image Culture’, probed generations of queer artists, who vividly map our image commons along the continuum Gran Fury utilized, and who see our digital landscape as an intricate ecosystem of power narratives representing fantasias of egalitarianism bridging the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, and who articulate the tensions between access and limitation, literacy and legibility, marking and erasure, identity and colonization, agency and refusal.Male blue wildebeest become sexually mature at about 2 years of age, while females can conceive at 16 months if adequately nourished. Nevertheless, most females do not start to breed until a year later. The mating season, which lasts for about 3 weeks, coincides with the end of the rainy season. This means that the animals are in good condition, having been feeding on highly nutritious new grass growth, and the conception rate is often as high as 95%. The mating season, or rut, typically begins on the night of a full moon, suggesting that the lunar cycle influences breeding. At this time, testosterone production peaks in males, resulting in increased calling and territorial behaviour. The activities of these sexually excited males may also stimulate female to come into estrus. They don’t, really. However, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, the breakfast cereal mastermind, hoped that they would. He invented cornflakes and other products because he thought that plain foods would lead Americans away from the “sin” of masturbation. The blue wildebeest is mostly active during the morning and the late afternoon, with the hottest hours of the day being spent in rest. These extremely agile and wary animals can run at speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph), waving their tails and tossing their heads. An analysis of the activity of blue wildebeest at the Serengeti National Park showed that the animals devoted over half of their total time to rest, 33% to grazing, 12% to moving about (mostly walking), and a little to social interactions. However, variations existed among different age and sex groups. Each day, we at the motel get asked if we see it too. We certainly do. We see it and embrace it. And, though the name of the sign’s designer is lost to history, we’re proud to say that his or her greatest erection lives on." Bologna's Fountain of Neptune (Fontana di Nettuno) was erected between 1564 and 1566, when Pope Pius IV decided to give the Bolognesi something they did not yet have: a public fountain. Was it just a gesture of goodwill? Not really.

It is one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae, the other being the pygmy hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis or Hexaprotodon liberiensis). The name comes from the ancient Greek for "river horse" (ἱπποπόταμος). After the elephant and rhinoceros, the common hippopotamus is the third-largest type of land mammal and the heaviest extant artiodactyl. Despite their physical resemblance to pigs and other terrestrial even-toed ungulates, the closest living relatives of the Hippopotamidae are cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises, etc.) from which they diverged about 55 million years ago. Like almost any herbivore, they consume other plants if presented with them, but their diet in nature consists almost entirely of grass, with only minimal consumption of aquatic plants. Hippos are born with sterile intestines, and require bacteria obtained from their mothers' feces to digest vegetation. Hippos have (albeit rarely) been filmed eating carrion, usually close to the water. There are other reports of meat-eating, and even cannibalism and predation. The stomach anatomy of a hippo is not suited to carnivory, and meat-eating is likely caused by aberrant behaviour or nutritional stress.

A full bladder is known to stimulate nerves in a similar region to those involved in erections. However, because people with vaginas experience something similar — nocturnal clitoral tumescence — bed wetting prevention is probably not the entire answer. And just in case there was any doubt, it doesn’t make you go blind, either. In a study of the dietary habits of the wildebeest, the animals were found to be feeding on the three dominant grasses of the area, namely : Themeda triandra, Digitaria macroblephara and Pennisetum mezianum. The time spent grazing increased by about 100% during the dry season. Though the choice of diet remained the same in both the dry and the wet season, the animals were more selective during the latter. Having said that, I have come up with some pet peeves. Things that I see every month or trends that have cropped up and refuse to die.

Hippos coexist with a variety of large predators. Nile crocodiles, lions and spotted hyenas are known to prey on young hippos. However, due to their aggression and size, adult hippos are not usually preyed upon by other animals. Cases where large lion prides have successfully preyed on adult hippos have been reported but it is generally rare.[82] Lions occasionally prey on adults at Gorongosa National Park and calves are sometimes taken at Virunga.[83] Crocodiles are frequent targets of hippo aggression, probably because they often inhabit the same riparian habitats; crocodiles may be either aggressively displaced or killed by hippos.[84] In turn, beyond cases of killing the seldom unguarded hippo calf, very large Nile crocodiles have been verified to occasionally prey on "half-grown" hippos—and based only on anecdotal evidence-possibly also adult female hippos. Aggregations of crocodiles have also been seen to dispatch still-living male hippos that have been previously injured in mating battles with other males Vorwiegend in der Nacht verlassen sie das schützende Wasser, um sich auf Nahrungssuche zu begeben. A hippo's lifespan is typically 40–50 years. Donna the Hippo was the oldest living hippo in captivity. She lived at the Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville, Indiana in the US until her death in 2012 at the age of 61. Der Name Nilpferd rührt daher, dass in der Literatur zunächst Flusspferde am Nil beschrieben wurden. Desperately centered photos. Stop it. Stop it now. Only your mom takes photos with everything dead center. (Okay, my mom does. Her vacation snaps are the worst. She goes to places and takes photos of her ancient friends and nothing of the scenery, but that doesn't stop her from wanting to show them to me. Including the duplicates.) This was considered especially appropriate not just because the Neptune Fountain is one of the main symbols of Bologna, but also because Neptune represents strength and vigour.
