About this deal

It wasn’t one of my favourite books but it was a really good book for doing work to like I was filing papers and doing entries and I found it very entertaining.

Desperate to find work, Emerald is forced to travel to London and become the companion of a distant aunt she’s never met.But as I said I skipped over most of those parts and I read the actual decent ones like Emmyand Dorcas who learned and grew throughout the story which takes place over a year only aunt Imogen was a fun character and Jasper made a truly rotten if slightly stupid villain.

I will warn it has a few sexual abuse scenes so for anyone with kids or a history in it, they could be triggered but all in all, if you just skipped them like I did, it was a well written book.Rebellious Abigail is unwilling to lower herself to doing menial farm chores, and instead runs away, finding work at a club in Soho, where she soon finds herself in desperate trouble. Rebellious Abigail is unwilling to lower herself to doing the menial farm chores and instead runs away, finding work as a hostess in a club in Soho, where she soon finds herself in desperate trouble. Mother Dorcas is a selfish spendthrift who runs her family into debt (Corrine Dollanganger) her husband is ashamed of himself for losing it all and the family goes to live on Dorcas's brother's estate in a tiny cottage.
